There is high risk to your security in the north eastern border area between Albania and Kosovo due to landmines and unexploded ordnance. We advise against tourist and other non-essential travel there.
There is some risk to your security elsewhere in Albania. We advise all New Zealanders travelling to Albania to be vigilant at all times because of the risk of organised crime in some areas. Do not travel to remote places alone, particularly at night.
Albania shares with the rest of Europe a general threat from terrorism, which could affect New Zealanders travelling or living overseas.
New Zealanders travelling or resident in Albania should have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place that include provision for medical evacuation by air, and are encouraged to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
