There is some risk to your security in Singapore due to an underlying threat from terrorism and we advise caution.

New Zealanders in Singapore should monitor any developments that may affect their safety and follow any instructions issued by the local authorities. Extensive measures to combat terrorism, including strong border controls, security and police surveillance, and restrictions on access to some public venues have been put in place by the Singaporean Government.

Piracy occurs in and around the waters of Singapore and the Malacca Straits. Mariners are advised to be vigilant and to take appropriate precautionary measures in these waters. For more information view the International Maritime Bureau’s piracy report: www.icc-ccs.org [external website]

New Zealanders travelling or resident in Singapore should have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place.

New Zealanders travelling or resident in Singapore are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
