Crime
Petty crime, such as bag snatching and pickpocketing, occurs in Guam. We advise New Zealanders to be alert to their surroundings at all times and take steps to safeguard their personal belongings.

Penalties for possession, use or trafficking of illegal drugs are severe and can include lengthy imprisonment.

General travel advice
Guam experiences tropical storms and typhoons throughout the year, but most occur from June to December. We advise New Zealanders in Guam to stay informed of weather risks by monitoring local media and to follow any instructions issued by local authorities during storms and typhoons.

New Zealanders travelling or living in Guam should have a comprehensive travel insurance policy in place that includes provision for medical evacuation by air. 

New Zealanders in Guam are advised to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
