United States of America: Los Angeles: Wildfires

Several major wildfires are currently affecting parts of Los Angeles, and the Governor of California has declared a state of emergency in Ventura County. Evacuation orders are in place in parts of Ventura and Los Angeles, some businesses and schools are closed and emergency shelters have been opened. Power outages and lack of cell phone coverage has been reported, and parts of the interstate 405 road has been closed. For further information please see the following links:

New Zealanders should be aware that air quality in these areas is very poor due to smoke. We recommend following any instructions issued by the local authorities such as Fire and Rescue services (including evacuation orders), and monitoring the media to keep up to date with local developments.
