Exercise normal safety and security precautions

Overview

Some things that New Zealanders travelling or living in Canada should be aware of are:

  • Crime – watch out for petty crime, especially in tourist areas.
  • Terrorism—consider the Canadian authorities’ terrorism threat level when making travel plans.
  • Extreme weather—in the winter, snow and ice storms can affect local infrastructure and create dangerous driving conditions. Remote and forested areas can also experience wildfires in the spring and summer.
