Don’t want your holiday to go up in smoke? Travelling with an electronic cigarette may land you in prison or with a fine.
Some countries consider electronic cigarettes and the liquid used in them as prohibited products, which may have some serious consequences for you when you get to the border or are stopped by the authorities in-country. Countries with the ban could impose a hefty fine and/or a prison sentence if it is deemed you attempted to import a prohibited item. We advise all travellers wishing to take an electronic cigarette with them to check their destination country’s laws on electronic cigarettes. Additionally, if you are transiting an international airport it is worth checking that country’s law around electronic cigarettes as well.
Flying with an electronic cigarette could also be considered a prohibited or dangerous item. Some airlines will not permit the stowage of electronic cigarettes in checked-in luggage. Additionally, most airlines prevent the use and charging of electronic cigarettes on-board the flight. We advise those wishing to travel with an electronic cigarette to check with their travel agent or airline regarding their electronic cigarette policy.
