Switzerland
Terrorism
Terrorist groups, including individuals returning to Europe from areas of conflict, and individuals adhering to varioius forms of extremist ideologies, continue to make threats to conduct attacks in Switzerland and across Europe.
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) recently announced that Biosecurity New Zealand is stepping up its work at the border with a campaign to ensure travellers do their part to protect farmers from foot-and-mouth disease.
Mozambique
Terrorism
There is a very high threat from terrorism, especially in the Cabo Delgado province. Terrorists are likely to target foreigners and foreign interests, including in towns and other areas where foreign companies operate.
Central African Republic
Civil Unrest/Political Tension
There is sustained violence in CAR and the security situation is unstable and dangerous. Rebel activity, inter-communal tensions and lawlessness is prevalent throughout the country and despite the presence of international peacekeeping forces the potential for sectarian violence remains high.
The security situation in the capital, Bangui, remains fragile and there continue to be reports of violence, killing and looting.
Eritrea
Violent Crime
Street crime is rare but is increasingly happening in cities and towns, including Asmara, particularly pickpocketing against foreigners. Armed banditry is common near the border with Sudan, and Djibouti along the coast north of Massawa, and on some rural roads.
Serbia
Civil Unrest
Protests and demonstrations occur from time to time in Serbia, particularly in major towns and cities like Belgrade, and occasional unrest along the border with Kosovo remains possible. These can cause major traffic delays and disruptions to public transport.
Niue
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is not issuing a specific travel advisory for Niue at this time.
Visitors to Niue need to pre-book their accommodation for the duration of their stay prior to arrival. This information will be needed to complete entry requirements upon landing.
New Zealanders travelling or living in Niue must have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place that include provision for medical evacuation by air.
