Benefits, superannuation (such as NZ Super and Veteran’s Pension) and other payments are made by Work and Income. If you receive a benefit or other payment, you must let Work and Income know about your travel before you leave New Zealand.
If you receive New Zealand Superannuation (NZ Super) or Veteran's Pension and plan to go overseas for 26 weeks or less, you may also need to let Work and Income know. If you're planning to go overseas for more than 26 weeks, you must meet certain criteria and apply to keep receiving your payments.
For more information, visit the Going overseas page on the Work and Income website.
Before you leave New Zealand, register your details with us. Having your travel and contact information means we can send security alerts and travel advice updates about the places you’re travelling to. It is also how we communicate with New Zealanders during an international crisis.
We don’t share your information with Work and Income, or other government agencies, unless you have given us permission or we are required to under New Zealand law.
