New Zealanders travelling to Chad should also read our violence or conflict page.

Other things that New Zealanders travelling or living in Chad should be aware of are:
  • Terrorism - there is a threat of terrorism throughout Chad and terrorist attacks could occur at any time.
  • Kidnapping - there is a threat of kidnapping against foreigners, and non-governmental organisation (NGO) and humanitarian workers have been targeted in the past.
  • Violent crime - there is a high level of violent crime including armed robbery, carjacking and murder.
