Exercise normal safety and security precautions

Overview

Some things that New Zealanders travelling or living in Switzerland should be aware of are:

  • Terrorism - terrorist groups continue to make threats to conduct attacks in Switzerland and across Europe. Monitor local media and be vigilant in public places.
  • Crime – watch out for theft especially in tourist areas and transport hubs.
  • Civil unrest - demonstrations and protests can disrupt traffic and public transportation.

New Zealanders travelling or living in Switzerland should have a comprehensive travel insurance policy in place that includes provision for medical evacuation by air. Check your policy to ensure that you are covered for all activities you have planned, such as adventure sports.
