Cyclone Garance: Travel advisory for Reunion Island

A cyclone warning is in place in La Réunion, with strong winds, heavy rain and local flooding expected late on Thursday evening. A red alert, which will come into place at 7pm local time, advises all persons to have taken shelter by that time. The alert will not be lifted until safe conditions are assured.

 New Zealanders are advised to follow the advice of local authorities, and to closely monitor local and international media and other sources of information, including social media, to stay informed of developments and updated advice. We suggest that New Zealanders stay in contact with family and friends to keep them informed of their plans and well-being, and strongly recommend that New Zealanders register on Safetravel.
